  • Two Scoops by Wally and Rookie

  • Monthly coupon codes

Last month we introduced our new monthly newsletter, Kazette (it’s like a gazette but in full color).

And we decided to try a new feat—-regularity

This monthly dose of artist shop details will arrive on the first Monday of each month. That’s today! Scroll to the bottom of each issue for a special deal just for you.

We have several more classes this year, and we hope you’ll join us!

All of our options can be found at kaartist.com/collections/classes

Soon we’ll be releasing a new series of bundled supply kits, offered for beginners and seasoned artists alike… perfect for gifts at any time of the year!

As we wait by the mailbox for all our packaging materials to arrive, here’s a sneak peak of the tissue paper, tote bags, and stickers we have designed for these kits…

We also got a bunch of empty paint cans… it’s pretty exciting.

Because the majority of our customers stay away from the downtown hubbub on gamedays, because the folks who are downtown don’t have art supplies on the brain, and because there’s rarely parking for customers and staff, we continue to be closed on UGA football Saturdays. Read more and get those dates here.

We’ll also be closed for several days around the holidays. Here are the remaining dates we’ll be closed in 2021 and into 2022:

  • November 6th

  • November 20th

  • November 24th, 25th, and 26th

  • December 24th, 25th, and 26th

  • December 31st

  • January 1st and 2nd

We get to meet a lot of artists at the shop, and we love keeping up with who’s making what around town (and we figure you do too), so we decided to collect these juicy details and present them to you each month.

Last month we announced the bare bones of our 100% positive vibes gossip rag, but we didn’t have a good name for it yet…

Well, we’re happy to announce some progress: Our two shop walruses Wally and Rookie (IYKYK) have raised their flippers to volunteer for the reporter gigs. They’re obsessed with obtaining details, and they’ve decided to dub their column “Two Scoops.”

The scoops we gleaned from our Instagram Stories last week are being added as we speak, and we’re sure that with their love for detail, there will be much more in months to come.

Please enjoy our November 2021 coupon codes.

And save that money for extra crayons! Those hand-turkeys aren’t going to draw themselves.

Thank you for your interest in the Artist Shop. You can reply to this email if you have any questions. We hope you have a lovely day.

René Shoemaker

René Shoemaker is a contemporary artist focused on silk painting. Born in New York City, she maintains studios in Athens, GA, USA and Aubusson, France. Spanning four decades and embracing a variety of mediums, her artwork highlights a sense of place while capturing the ways spaces work together and how people inhabit and interact with those spaces. Architecture and public places are often highlighted in her work.

René received a B.F.A. from the University of Georgia (UGA), building a career of painting with dyes to create flowing, colorful work on radiant silk glowing with light. After retiring from her profession as a university librarian at UGA, René continued refining her art and sharing her techniques while discovering new ways to describe the world we collectively share.

Exhibiting in solo and group shows internationally, Shoemaker delights in exploring our everyday experiences through color and line. René has exhibited in museums in Georgia, Mississippi, and Paris and in galleries and public spaces in Georgia, New York, the UK, and France. Her solo exhibitions include museums in Georgia and Mississippi, where her work is held in permanent collections. Shoemaker was awarded the Fiber Forward Focus Fellowship from AIR Serenbe in Georgia, and 2024 exhibits are now scheduled in San Francisco, and Paris, and she will lead workshops in Athens, GA, San Francisco, CA and in a castle in southwest France.
