Join fiber artist René Shoemaker to learn the craft of painting on silk through a private lesson. Hand painting on silk is an ancient art with a rich history from India, China, and Japan. The process of silk painting begins with stretching silk on a frame, sketching the design onto the silk, mixing dye colors, and painting. This is exactly what we will do in the class together. Silk painting is a fabulous technique that makes the silk come alive with color as you apply the dye to the silk.
This private class offers the ability to work one-on-one with René in an intimate setting to explore design ideas and perfect your craft.
All supplies will be provided. All you need to bring is the inspiration and a readiness to create beauty!
Interested, but not sure what to paint? René will share examples of historic and contemporary silk paintings during the workshop to help trigger your creativity.
No experience necessary; yet all levels welcome.
