Thursday Night Art Club for Adults

In this art club for adults held on first and third Thursdays at the K. A. Artist Shop, we'll draw, paint, build, collage, print, and design our very own collection of small-sized artworks.

Each session will start with a mini lesson from shop owner Kristen or another local artist, and we’ll continue with a hands-on activity designed to spark your creativity. To wrap-up, we’ll enjoy a bit of free time to make small works of our choosing as we socialize in a cheerful environment.

We provide all the materials and welcome everyone. We hope you’ll join us each week with a semester pass or drop-in as you’re able!

PLEASE NOTE: Our shop is located on the second floor of a historic downtown building without an elevator. If you’re interested in joining us virtually, please send us an email. 🫶

Kristen Ashley MacCarthy

Calligraphy, Drawing, Painting, and Photography Teacher at K. A. Artist Shop

Kristen runs the K. A. Artist Shop in Athens, Georgia, which she considers her perennial work of art. She spends much of her time in the shop’s service wing photographing fabric pieces, ceramics, and paintings, as well as stretching canvases, preparing custom supply kits, and printing archival reproductions for regional and national artists.

A graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Studio Art and a minor in Philosophy, Kristen is a perpetual learner and a devoted lover of color and aesthetics. Her favorite mediums include graphite, oil paint, watercolor, and ink.

Since opening the K. A. Artist Shop in 2014, Kristen has taught numerous classes there and has also led workshops and events at the Cobb Galleria, the Georgia Museum of Art, and the University of Georgia. Always eager to connect with Athens’ creative community, she has participated in a variety of local art-centered events and creativity summits, and has served as a juror for the ATHFest Artist Market and the OCAF Annual Members’ Show.

Profesora de Caligrafía, Dibujo y Pintura

We are located on the second floor of a charming historic building near the Jittery Joe's Coffee at the corner of Jackson and Broad Streets in downtown Athens, Georgia. We're right across the street from the UGA campus, and our front entrance is between Pita Pit and Dynamite Clothing.

Materiales

A variety of art materials like pencils, colored pencils, drawing pens, paint pens, acrylic paints, gouache, and watercolors are provided each week, along with a selection of mixed media papers. You'll get to learn about a range of materials and surfaces as we create 5 x 7 inch artwork. Students are welcome to bring any alternative materials they may wish to use or share.

To register and reserve your spot, simply use the "Add to Cart" button above and proceed to checkout. You'll get a confirmation email once your order has been received. Then all you need to do is show up! You don't need to bring anything but yourself.

You can purchase a semester pass where you'll get access to all eight clubs for $15 each. Or you can purchase weekly drop-in passes for $20 each.

Kristen Ashley MacCarthy

Kristen spends most of her time running the K. A. Artist Shop and considers it to be her perennial work of art. If you’ve ordered calligraphy, painting, photography, or printing services through us, you’ve likely seen her work.

¿Dónde está ubicada tu salón de clases?

¿Qué necesito llevar a clase?

Mi hijo tiene 9 años pero es muy maduro; ¿pueden inscribirse?

¡Lo lamentamos! Nuestras clases están diseñadas para estudiantes mayores, pero permitimos que niños de 10 a 12 años se unan a nuestros campamentos y clubes para preadolescentes. Esperamos que se unan a nosotros el próximo año cuando cumplan 10 años.

¿Existe algún descuento por varias clases?

Para inscripciones de varias clases, le recomendamos aprovechar nuestro programa de recompensas. Le invitamos a registrarse en múltiples transacciones, utilizando los puntos de recompensa obtenidos para canjear descuentos en clases adicionales.

¿Ofrecen becas de clases?

¡Sí! Si un descuento te ayudará a asistir a una de nuestras clases, campamentos o talleres, te invitamos a utilizar este código de cupón tantas veces como quieras:

¿Cuál es su política de cancelación de aula?

Entendemos que suceden cosas y es posible que no puedas asistir a la clase que compraste. Si sus planes cambian, infórmenos al menos 7 días antes de que comience su clase programada. Si nos avisa con al menos 7 días de antelación, podemos emitir un reembolso monetario completo a su forma de pago original o cambiarlo a otra clase sin cargo.

No podemos ofrecer reembolsos después de los 7 días, pero nos complace ofrecer sesiones de recuperación en otras clases según lo permita el espacio o un crédito para una fiesta de cumpleaños a cualquier estudiante que necesite faltar a su clase programada.

Lamentablemente, no podemos emitir reembolsos ni compensaciones por no presentarse. Comuníquese con nosotros antes de la clase si necesita cancelar o reprogramar.

En ocasiones, es posible que una clase no alcance el número mínimo de estudiantes necesarios. Si este es el caso y necesitamos cancelar una clase nosotros mismos, se lo informaremos a los inscritos al menos tres días antes del evento programado. Por supuesto, recibirá un reembolso completo o una reprogramación, y también le proporcionaremos una pequeña tarjeta de regalo como muestra de nuestro agradecimiento.
