Thursday Night Art Club for Adults

In this weekly club for adults led by shop owner and artist Kristen Ashley MacCarthy, we'll draw, paint, collage, and create our very own collection of small-sized artworks.

Making small art is perfect for trading and growing an archive of artistic inspiration. Each week we'll have a short lesson and plenty of time for free expression. We are well versed in a variety of media and will answer any questions you may have. All materials are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own. Drop-in any time!

Art Clubs are perfect for all skill levels. We welcome everyone. Whether you have never picked up a drawing tool before, or you enjoy making art regularly, you'll have a great time here!

We are located on the second floor of a charming historic building near the Jittery Joe's Coffee at the corner of Jackson and Broad Streets in downtown Athens, Georgia. We're right across the street from the UGA campus, and our front entrance is between Pita Pit and Dynamite Clothing.

Materiales

A variety of art materials like pencils, colored pencils, drawing pens, paint pens, acrylic paints, gouache, and watercolors are provided each week, along with a selection of mixed media papers. You'll get to learn about a range of materials and surfaces as we create 5 x 7 inch artwork. Students are welcome to bring any alternative materials they may wish to use or share.

To register and reserve your spot, simply use the "Add to Cart" button above and proceed to checkout. You'll get a confirmation email once your order has been received. Then all you need to do is show up! You don't need to bring anything but yourself.

This weekly club for adults meets on Thursdays from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

Our 2025 Summer Semester kicks off on Thursday, May 22nd. There will be eight sessions total this semester (we skip the week of July 4th), with the last Art Club of the semester on July 17th. All clubs are held from 6:00 to 7:30pm here at the K. A. Artist Shop.

You can purchase a semester pass where you'll get access to all eight clubs for $15 each. Or you can purchase weekly drop-in passes for $20 each.

Meet Your Teacher

Kristen Ashley MacCarthy

Calligraphy, Drawing, Painting, and Photography Teacher at K. A. Artist Shop

Kristen spends most of her time running the K. A. Artist Shop and considers it to be her perennial work of art. If you’ve ordered calligraphy, painting, photography, or printing services through us, you’ve likely seen her work.

A graduate of UGA with a degree in Studio Art and a minor in Philosophy, Kristen is a perpetual learner and a lover of color and aesthetics. Favorite mediums include graphite, oil paint, gouache, and ink. Kristen has taught classes at the Artist Shop since its opening, has led workshops at the GA Museum of Art, been a juror at the ATHFest Artist Market, and has participated in various gallery shows and creativity summits around town.

¿Dónde está ubicada tu salón de clases?

Muchas de nuestras clases son perfectas para quienes recién comienzan y algunas incluso están diseñadas para principiantes absolutos. Otras clases están dirigidas a personas con más experiencia, pero todos son bienvenidos.

¿Qué necesito llevar a clase?

Por lo general, proporcionamos todos los materiales que necesitará para nuestras clases y, por lo general, ¡sacamos lo bueno!

De vez en cuando necesitaremos que proporciones algunos materiales, herramientas o una imagen digital de alta resolución (por ejemplo, en una clase de "Retratos de casas sin esfuerzo", deberás enviarnos tu foto por correo electrónico con anticipación).

La descripción anterior le permitirá saber si necesita traer algo, pero la mayoría de las veces, todo lo que necesita es traer usted mismo.

Mi hijo tiene 9 años pero es muy maduro; ¿pueden inscribirse?

¡Lo lamentamos! Nuestras clases están diseñadas para estudiantes mayores, pero permitimos que niños de 10 a 12 años se unan a nuestros campamentos y clubes para preadolescentes. Esperamos que se unan a nosotros el próximo año cuando cumplan 10 años.

¿Existe algún descuento por varias clases?

Para inscripciones de varias clases, le recomendamos aprovechar nuestro programa de recompensas. Le invitamos a registrarse en múltiples transacciones, utilizando los puntos de recompensa obtenidos para canjear descuentos en clases adicionales.

¿Ofrecen becas de clases?

¡Sí! Si un descuento te ayudará a asistir a una de nuestras clases, campamentos o talleres, te invitamos a utilizar este código de cupón tantas veces como quieras:

¿Cuál es su política de cancelación de aula?

Entendemos que suceden cosas y es posible que no puedas asistir a la clase que compraste. Si sus planes cambian, infórmenos al menos 7 días antes de que comience su clase programada. Si nos avisa con al menos 7 días de antelación, podemos emitir un reembolso monetario completo a su forma de pago original o cambiarlo a otra clase sin cargo.

No podemos ofrecer reembolsos después de los 7 días, pero nos complace ofrecer sesiones de recuperación en otras clases según lo permita el espacio o un crédito para una fiesta de cumpleaños a cualquier estudiante que necesite faltar a su clase programada.

Lamentablemente, no podemos emitir reembolsos ni compensaciones por no presentarse. Comuníquese con nosotros antes de la clase si necesita cancelar o reprogramar.

En ocasiones, es posible que una clase no alcance el número mínimo de estudiantes necesarios. Si este es el caso y necesitamos cancelar una clase nosotros mismos, se lo informaremos a los inscritos al menos tres días antes del evento programado. Por supuesto, recibirá un reembolso completo o una reprogramación, y también le proporcionaremos una pequeña tarjeta de regalo como muestra de nuestro agradecimiento.
